SA Olympiads has established partnerships with organisations across the world. We currently have footprints in India, Vietnam, the Philippines, Kazakhstan and the United States of America, with more countries to come each year.

Coming in 2027
SAIO 2027 — South Africa hosts the world
In 2027, South Africa will host its own international Olympiad competition. SAIO 2027 will welcome learners from across Africa, Asia and beyond to Johannesburg. Schools, sponsors and partners are invited to register interest now.

Competitions we participate in
Learners are selected based on performance in our national Olympiads. Participation status for each competition is shown below.
VIAMC — Vietnam International Applied Mathematics Competition
Confirmed 2026SA Olympiads will take a select group of learners from Grade 3 to Grade 12 to compete against 10 other countries in both individual and team rounds.
ASIARope Competitions
Confirmed 2026A multi-subject competition with over 15 participating countries. We will participate in English and Natural Science, with selection taking place in March 2026.
Amerasian Olympiad
Participation TBCA multi-subject competition for Grade 5 to Grade 9 learners against more than 15 countries in English and Science Olympiads.
World Primary Mathematics Contest
Participation TBCAn annual competition for learners aged under 13. A team of 4 is selected to represent South Africa.
IMSO — International Mathematics & Science Olympiad
Participation TBCA prestigious annual STEM competition for primary school learners (13 years and under). The 2025 round was hosted in Malaysia.
IYMC — International Youth Mathematics Challenge
Participation TBCAn annual competition alternating between Mathematics and English. Aimed at Grade 8 to Grade 12. In 2025 we took two teams to Lucknow and achieved considerable success.
IZhO — International Zhautykov Olympiad
Targeted 2027Competitions cover Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science. SA Olympiads will not participate in 2026 but is targeting 2027.
JEO / IMEC / ISCO
Participation TBCJunior English Olympiad, International Mathematics Olympiad and International Science Challenge Olympiad. A multi-subject competition similar to the Amerasian Olympiad.
